One reason people may delay buying LTC insurance is that they think the government may introduce a plan at some point.  They are concerned that the premiums they would pay would not be beneficial because the government plan would pay for care.

People with that objection may want to view this report from Bloomberg on Germans who are sending loved ones to Poland for care because the German LTC program doesn't cover the full cost of quality care in Germany.  Although it appears the care in Poland is good, the fact is that the decision was forced upon families.  Private LTC insurance always gives people options.
