Although year over year sales for LTC have been flat recently, the amount of claims being paid has steadily increased. This is not surprising considering how common the long-term care need is among older adults.
According to the AALTCI, about $7.5 billion in claims were paid to over 273,000 individuals in 2013, an increase of 13% over 2012. Carriers such as Mutual of Omaha are touting their claims payment in advisor education pieces like the one below
