Many Asian-Americans place an emphasis on home care

We all understand long-term care is a family issue.  It's also a cultural one.  While  a white family from Minnesota may feel comfortable with a nursing facility for Mom, some cultures expect that children will take care of elders at home.

Of course, the problem is that a village culture in Vietnam may be very different than suburban American, which is becoming more diverse.  Our LTC care and financing system needs to adjust as well.

This article from the NY Times discusses this issue.
