The Long-Term Services and Supports Trust Act, now known as WA Cares Fund, was enacted in 2019 and created a long-term care insurance benefit that will cover some of the cost of long-term services and supports for all eligible Washington employees.

The LTSS Trust Commission consists of legislators, administering agencies, and stakeholder representatives and its purpose is to propose recommendations to the legislature or appropriate executive agency regarding issues related to the new WA Cares Fund program that will start paying benefits to eligible beneficiaries in 2026.
