Initial Long Term Care Training |
8 hour Course UPDATE AS OF 2/1/16: Initial 8-hour LTC training requirement: *Effective February 22, 2016, All producers currently licensed to sell, solicit, or negotiate long-term care insurance must complete a one-time training course of not less than 8 hours by February 22, 2017. All producers licensed on or after February 22, 2016 must complete this training prior to selling, soliciting, or negotiating such products. UPDATE FOR TRAINING TAKEN PRIOR TO 2/22/16: Completions of 8 hour courses in states that have implemented the 2006 Model Act and 8 hour courses completed in Michigan AFTER 5/1/14 are valid toward the initial training requirement of the new regulation. Michigan completions after 5/1/2014 are reciprocal toward the requirements of the other Model states. Any 8 hour training taken PRIOR to 5/1/2014 will need to be re-taken in order to be in compliance with the new Michigan training requirements. Please note that currently CA, CT, DC, DE, HI, IN, MS and NY are not reciprocal with Michigan |

UPDATE: 6/3/20 - per Bill @ Clearcert, MI now has an expiration date on LTC CE, even though the state considers the license not to have an expiration date. You will use the date under the License which is called the "Renewal Date" for the CE Deadline. See instructions below to find expiration date for CE: https://difs.state.mi.us/locators?searchtype=InsAgent. Put in advisor information, click on Continuing Education button and under the title "Summary of Hours Reported - Current Review Period" you will see a CE Date. That date is the date you use for the CE Expiration Date. |
