Please note that currently CA, CT, DC, DE, HI, IN, MS and NY are not reciprocal with Illinois

Resident producers: Updated February 2014: Illinois now allows resident producers to take an Illinois 8-hour NAIC Partnership course, or they may take an 8-hour NAIC Partnership course from another state to fulfill Illinois requirements.

NON-RESIDENT ADVISORS:  On the flip side of this rule, an advisor in a different resident state, writing a Traditional LTC application in Indiana, can use their resident state CE.  The only states that are NOT reciprocal or will allow this are:  AZ, CA, IL, KY and TX (as of 11/28/23 per Bill @ Clearcert)

As of 1/1/14 - The refresher training must be taken by the end of the license renewal period.  The advisor has 12 months after the license renewal period to take the refresher training.  If it is not taken within 12 months of the license renewal period, producers must take the initial eight-hour course again.

Any training taken prior to 1/1/14 will go by the old rules which is every 24 months.  For example:  Advisor took training on 2/11/12, it will be good until 2/11/14, and his next 4 hour refresher period will go by the new rules!

Lapse in training is NOT allowed!

Nationwide: As of 7/18/23 - Nationwide does allow lapse in training for Illinois residents.  Illinois is treated like any other lapse state and they do not make the advisor go back and start over with the 8 hour again.
